Town of Veteran

Veteran was created on April 16, 1823 when the southern portion of the Town of Catherine was divided into the Towns of Veteran and Catlin. Veteran was named for Green Bentley who came to the area in the late 1790s. He was a veteran of both the French and Indian War and the American Revolution. Within the Town of Veteran lie the incorporated village of Millport and the hamlets of Pine Valley and Sullivanville. Terry’s Corners, another settlement within Veteran, had a post office from July 21, 1862 to January 26, 1874.
