Churches

The Methodist Church in Millport was organized on December 31, 1832 and a building was erected in 1833. For years, the congregation was part of the Methodist circuit that included Horseheads and Havana. In 1867, the church was renovated and a session room was added. A Presbyterian Church was organized in 1836. By 1867, however, the congregation had become disorganized and the church building was sold. The bell from the church was removed to the Methodist Church. The Millport Baptist Church was organized on December 24, 1844. Services were held at the Methodist and Presbyterian Churches until the congregation acquired the former Presbyterian Church in 1871.
