Sacred Spaces

During the 1920s established churches faced a number of challenges as Americans turned toward the secular and materialistic values of the modern age.  To attract more followers, churches sought to enhance their physical appearance.  After a single initial donation to Trinity Church, other members, businesses, and community groups were inspired to help make additional improvements.  Trinity Church added a new tile floor with marble steps, beautiful oak doors, and cathedral style stained glass windows.  These physical upgrades led to greater involvement with community groups and increased donations from church members and local businesses.  For example, Kertscher Furniture Company made and donated kneelers for all the pews.
