Eldridge Park

Entrances off Grand Central Ave., Westside Ave.,

and Woodlawn Ave., Elmira

The park offers rides, a miniature golf course,

an arcade, a walking trail around Eldridge Lake,

paddleboats, a skate park, soccer fields, baseball

diamonds, a dog park, and picnic facilities. The

rides, games, and ice cream shop are generally

open on weekends from Memorial Day weekend

to Labor Day.

Lackawanna Rail Trail

Trail runs from E. Water St. to Eldridge Park at Clemens Center Pkwy.

 

The paved trail runs 2.5 miles along the former Lackawanna Railroad tracks in Elmira. It is open to the public for walking, running, and bicycling in the summer and snowshoeing and cross-country skiing in the winter.

 

Blandford Park

Harriet Street and Market Street, Elmira

 

This park has a pavilion and playground equipment.

 

Brand Park

Catherine Street, Elmira

 

The park has a bandstand, a playground, basketball courts, baseball diamonds, tennis courts, pavilions, and grills. On Sundays during the summer it hosts the Brand Park Summer Concert Series.

 

Brick Pond

Sullivan Street between Matthews Street and Pattison Street, Elmira

 

The park has a playground, as well as a pavilion and grill on a peninsula in the pond.

 

Clemens Square

 

This park is a link between the First Arena, the Clemens Center and the parking garage. It has benches, walkways, and decorative planters.

 

Cypress Street Park

Between Southport, Cypress, and Beecher Streets, Elmira

 

This park has a playground, water sprinklers, a basketball court, a baseball field, and a pavilion.

 

East Water Street Park

E. Water Street, Elmira

 

This park across from the Kennedy Valve Plant is a baseball field.

 

Ernie Davis Park

Lake Street, Elmira

 

The park includes basketball courts, a playground, a pavilion, and grills.

 

Gaines Street Park

Gaines Street, Elmira

 

This small neighborhood park with a playground and a pavilion.

 

Grove Park

Between Fourth, Grove, and Walnut Streets, Elmira

 

This park has a playground, water sprayers for cooling off in the summer, a basketball court, horseshoe pits, grills, and the Hal Roach pavilion.

 

Hathorn Park

Adjoining Hathorn Court along Davis Street, Elmira

 

This park has a pavilion, a playground, and a sprinkler for kids to keep cool during the summer.

 

Katy Leary Park

Connelly and River Streets, Elmira

 

There is a pavilion, tennis courts, a water sprinkler, a playground, and a community garden at this park. 

 

Magee Street Park

Magee Street and W. Center Street, Elmira

 

This small neighborhood park with swing sets and a slide.

 

Mark Twain Riverfront Park

Water Street from N. Main Street to Lake Street, Elmira

 

This park has a brick pathway, benches, fountains, and a sculpture dedicated to soaring.

 

McKinnon Park

Between Sullivan, Lake, and Thurston Streets, Elmira

 

This park features the city’s only football field and also has baseball diamonds, basketball and tennis courts, a playground, pavilions, and grills.

 

Millers Pond

Corner of Parkside Drive and Overlook Drive, Elmira

 

The park has a playground, tennis courts, a pavilion with picnic tables, and grills.

 

Jim Nelson Park

West Hudson Street, Elmira

 

This park has a baseball field, basketball courts, a playground with a super-long slide, and a pavilion.

 

Patch Park

Corner of Clemens Center Parkway and Washington Street, Elmira

 

This park offers an open field for baseball and playground equipment.

 

Pulaski Park

Corner of Center and Davis Streets, Elmira

This park has a playground, basketball courts, a baseball field, pavilions, and grills.

 

Quatrano Park

Parker Circle and Parker Drive off of Oak Street, Elmira

 

There are volleyball, tennis and basketball courts, baseball diamonds, soccer, nets, a playground, a pavilion, a horseshoe pit, and a community garden at this park

 

Frank A. Rohde Park

Beach Street, Elmira

 

This park has a playground, a basketball court, a pavilion, and grills.

 

Sly Street Park

Between Lake Ave., and Brand, Falck and LaFrance Streets, Elmira

 

This park has playground equipment and a pavilion.

 

Wisner Park

Main Street between Church Street and W. Gray Street, Elmira

 

Wisner park has memorials to veterans of the Spanish-American War, World War I, World War II, the Vietnam War and to fallen police officers. On Thursdays during the summer, the park is host to a farmer’s market.

 

Pirozzolo Park

The park contains several baseball and softballfields, lighted tennis courts, a swimming pool,

soccer fields, a food concession, basketballcourts, and a playground.

Tanglewood Nature Center and Museum

443 Coleman Ave., Elmira

Tanglewood offers educational programming for children and adults and houses more than 40 native and exotic animals. Visitors can hike over ten miles of trails on site at Gleason Meadows and Frenchman’s Bluff and at Personius Woods on West Hill Road.

 

Newtown Battlefield State Park

2346 Co. Rt. 60, Elmira

The stone monument at the battlefield commemorates the Battle of Newtown, fought in August of 1779. The state park offers hiking trails, picnic tables and pavilions, an observation deck, a playground, and camping facilities.

Hoffman Dam

West Hill Road, Elmira

The lake at Hoffman Dam is stocked for fishing. Visitors can use canoes and rowboats on the lake but swimming is not allowed.
